Horbury Primary Academy is a community where children become confident, caring individuals with high aspirations, an enduring enthusiasm for learning and the necessary skills to succeed in life.
At Horbury Primary Academy we believe that the child is at the centre of everything we do and we have tried to create a broad, balanced and creative curriculum to ensure that children are engaged in their learning and above all enjoy coming to school. We have enthusiastic, caring and professional staff who work hard to ensure this happens.
We want every child to reach their potential and our ultimate aim is to create a lifelong love of learning which gives children not only new skills, knowledge and understanding, but also key learning attributes that will enable them to succeed as they begin their path in life. We have a culture of learning in which we have high expectations of all children that enables them to achieve through challenge and support.
And that's a wrap for another fantastic school year!
As we reach the end of term, we would like to take a moment to celebrate all that has been achieved this year. Our children have worked incredibly hard, embraced new opportunities, developed their skills and friendships, and made us proud every step of the way.
Thank you to our dedicated staff, supportive families and, of course, our wonderful pupils for making our school such a special place to learn and grow.
We wish all of our children and families a happy, safe and relaxing summer break.
With hot weather forecast, we want to make sure our whole community stays safe and aware of the drowning risks of going into open water. Swimming in ponds, lakes and flooded quarries can be extremely dangerous - between strong underwater currents, cold water shock, debris and discarded waste, toxic algae and sudden changes in water depth, taking a dip just isn't worth the risk. We had such a brilliant time during Sports Week! 🎉
The children loved the opportunity to try so many new activities – from zorbing and wheelchair basketball to football, Nerf wars, axe-throwing and archery. There truly was something for everyone, and they embraced every opportunity to get active, try something new and have fun.
It’s been an incredible week, and initiatives like this are so important in inspiring a lifelong love of sport and physical activity.
A big thank you to all the staff and visitors who made this week possible, and to the parents and carers who joined us for our sports day to show their support!

What a fantastic way to finish the half term – we’re thrilled to share that we are in the top 25% of FFT Education schools in England for attendance!
Coming to school every day makes such a difference, helping children build strong routines, develop key skills and set themselves up for success.

We have multiple Teaching Assistant opportunities available - perfect if you love helping children thrive, building positive relationships, and helping to create a safe and engaging classroom environment. You’ll work closely with class teachers to support the delivery of a high-quality curriculum, and use your initiative to care for our children. Apply by Friday 29 May. ✨
Plus, we have a part time role available for an Early Years Play Assistant (lunchtimes, Mon-Fri 12:15-1:15pm). We are looking for a warm and creative person who can keep up with our tiny explorers! You will provide stimulating and fun activities for our children and help them develop their social and physical skills through play. Apply by Monday 18 May.
