Christmas 2020 in the Academy

25/11/2020

Horbury Primary Academy are keen for children to continue to enjoy the things that we normally do in school during this exciting half term.
Below we have outlined some of our plans which we hope all of the children will enjoy taking part in.

Christmas Productions

We are very happy to confirm that our Christmas productions are going ahead this year, but we will be sharing the experience digitally!
The productions are going to be filmed professionally by a company that used regularly by all the schools within the Accord Multi Academy Trust.
Filming for Christmas productions will be taking place on Tuesday 8th December and Wednesday 9th December 2020.
Rest assured that this will be done with online safety in mind. All footage will only be available for access by parents/carers and will not be in the public domain.

Christmas Cards

We know that a big part of the children’s Christmas preparations has always been sending Christmas cards to their friends. It is a delight to see the children working hard to write their own messages and the joy when they receive a card themselves.
In order to do this safely we will be providing a post box in school for cards on certain days only.
All cards will be quarantined and then distributed to the children, in order to keep inline with Covid-19 regulations.
The days we will be accepting cards are:

  • Monday 30th November;
  • Monday 7th December;
  • Monday 14th December.

Christmas Discos

With the success of our Halloween Discos back in October, we are very happy to say that we have arranged for some very special Christmas Discos to take place this December!

Similar to the Halloween Discos, the Christmas Discos will take place over two days with each class having an allocated slot to ensure that everyone is safe within their bubble and following the Covid-19 guidelines.

  • Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 & Year 6 Christmas Party/Disco on Thursday 10th December 2020
  • Reception, Year 1 & Year 2 Christmas Party/Discos on Friday 11th December 2020
  • Nursery Christmas party on Monday 14th December 2020
Children allowed to come in party clothes/non-uniform on their Christmas Party/Disco day

Charity Fundraisers

Horbury Primary Academy are proud to support some wonderful charities all year round, and we think it is really important for us to continue to support these charities where possible.

Your donations, however small, will be gratefully received. However, we also know that many of you may have had changed circumstances this year and as such one donation for both charities, or no donation at all, will not stop your children from taking part.

Reindeer Run 04/12/2020

Mrs Cartwright has organised for the children to take part in the Reindeer Run in aid of the ‘Wakefield Hospice’ on Friday 4th December 2020.
On the day of the event, please ensure that your child comes to school in their PE kit along with suitable footwear, a coat and a water bottle.
The course will be a distance of 1km and each child will be given a set of reindeer antlers to wear during the activity and to keep afterwards.
More information about this event has been sent out via email to Parents/Carers, and can also be found on our Latest News page: Reindeer Run News

Christmas Jumper Day 17/12/2020

On Thursday 17th December 2020, our last day in school, we will be supporting ‘Save the Children’ by putting on our Christmas jumpers and raising money for a great cause.
Children allowed to come in non-uniform and/or Christmas jumpers on the day!
Please look out for a letter which will be emailed out to Parents/Carers for more information.

Inset Day 18/12/2020

Horbury Primary Academy will be closed to all pupils on Friday 18th December 2020 for a staff Inset Day.
As such, pupil’s last day in school will be Thursday 17th December 2020.

The Accord Multi Academy Trust is an educational charity established in September 2016 that is currently made up of four academies who were the founding members of the Trust. In September 2016 Horbury Academy and Ossett Academy & Sixth Form College came together, moving away from their stand-alone Trust status and were joined in December 2016 by Horbury Primary Academy and Middlestown Primary Academy.

The overarching vision for the Trust is to work in one ‘Accord – celebrating the differences of each academy through strong collaboration in order to inspire all members of our learning community to be the best that they can be.
