Christmas 2021 in the Academy
29/11/2021
Christmas Productions
We are very happy to confirm that our Christmas productions are going ahead this year!
Just a reminder that in order to meet with the requirements of our risk assessment, entrance to these shows is strictly by ticket only and there will be no standing at any of these shows.
Whilst the restriction on tickets is not what we would choose to do, we thank you in anticipation of your support in meeting these requirements.
The productions are going to be filmed. Rest assured all recordings will be done with online safety in mind. All footage will only be available for access by parents/carers and will not be in the public domain. However, you should be able to share with wider family members.
Christmas Raffle
We have sent home some raffle tickets with each pupil.
We have a variety of raffle prizes available to be won, with many of the prizes being on show at the Christmas productions over the next couple of weeks.
Further tickets will be on sale for £1 per ticket at the entrance to the shows.
Nursery’s Christmas Boogie Events
If your child attends our Nursery, you will have received some information directly from the Nursery Team regarding special festive events taking place on Friday 10th December.
Reindeer Run
After such brilliant success last year, Horbury Primary Academy are very happy to be supporting Wakefield Hospice by taking part in their Reindeer Run on Friday 10th December 2021.
The course will be a distance of 1m, will take place on our school grounds and each child will be given a set of reindeer antlers to wear during the activity and to keep afterwards.
We are asking that all children donate a voluntary contribution of £2 to raise vital funds for Wakefield Hospice. Donations can be made either by bringing the correct money into school on the day or online via our schools fundraising page for Wakefield Hospice: Wakefield Hospice: SCHOOLS Reindeer Run 2021 (enthuse.com)
Please ensure that your child comes to school in their PE kit along with suitable footwear, a coat and a water bottle on Friday 10th December 2021.
Christmas Lunch
We will be having Christmas Lunch in school on Wednesday 15th December.
This will be available to all children, even if they would usually have a packed lunch.
The cost of the meal is £2.21, please pay for this via ParentPay (Universal Free School Meals (UFSM) are free to Reception, Year 1 and Year 2).
A Christmas Lunch order letter was sent home with all pupils on Monday 29th November.
We kindly ask that all pupils return the reply slip specifying their preference. If the form has not been returned by Friday 3rd December, then your child will have to bring a packed lunch on 15th December 2021.
Christmas Discos
With the success of our Discos last year, we are very happy to say that we have arranged for some very special Christmas Discos to take place this December!
The Christmas Discos will take place over two days with each class having an allocated slot to ensure that everyone is safe within their bubble and following the Covid-19 guidelines.
- Reception, Year 1, Year 2 & Year 3 Christmas Party/Disco on Thursday 15th December 2021
- Year 4, Year 5 & Year 6 Christmas Party/Discos on Friday 16th December 2021
Christmas Jumper Day
On Thursday 17th December we will be supporting ‘Save the Children’ by putting on our Christmas jumpers and raising money for a great cause.
Children allowed to come in non-uniform and/or Christmas jumpers on the day!
Please look out for a letter which will be emailed out to Parents/Carers for more information.
Christmas Holiday
Just a reminder that the last day of term for all our pupils will be on Friday 17th December 2021.
Unlike the Secondary Academies, Horbury Primary Academy does not have an Inset Day this term and therefore all pupils will be expected to attend school as usual on this date.
The Christmas Holiday will start on Monday 20th December 2021, with Horbury Primary Academy re-opening to all pupils on Tuesday 4th January 2022.
