Summer Cooking with Classroom Kitchen

Classes across school have been taking part in cooking sessions led by Classroom Kitchen.  Children within this academic year (2021-2022) have completed six cooking sessions per year group.  Children have learnt a variety of skills including the bridge and claw when cutting, how to grate, stirring and mixing and peeling.

Year 6 Fairground Rides

Our Year 6 children have had a super time creating fairground rides with electrical systems.  They worked extremely hard to produce fantastic, fun-filed rides.

Showcasing aspects of our D&T Curriculum

Children across school have enjoyed their cooking sessions.  Year 6 made jambalaya, Year 5 created a Greek pasta salad, Year 4 made coleslaw, Year 3 created fruit and vegetable cous, cous and Year 2 made a traffic light salad!

Year 5 developed their sewing skills by designing and making Christmas stockings.

The children in Year 3 developed their bread making skills in their Cooking Lessons and produced bread-g-hogs.

Year 5 enjoyed designing and making their own kites.  They had the opportunity to fly them on the school field.

Year 2 enjoyed creating bridges linked to their Science topic.  They looked at different materials and discussed which would be the best to hold the three Billy Goats and protect them from the troll! The discovered that lollipop sticks and glue were the strongest and sturdiest.

The Accord Multi Academy Trust is an educational charity established in September 2016 that is currently made up of four academies who were the founding members of the Trust. In September 2016 Horbury Academy and Ossett Academy & Sixth Form College came together, moving away from their stand-alone Trust status and were joined in December 2016 by Horbury Primary Academy and Middlestown Primary Academy.

The overarching vision for the Trust is to work in one ‘Accord – celebrating the differences of each academy through strong collaboration in order to inspire all members of our learning community to be the best that they can be.
