Ethos & Values
The Ethos and Values of our School
During the academic year (2018/19), we introduced a new system to instill and encourage PRIDE in our children and the school as a whole. The staff and children voted for attributes that they felt should represent our school and as a whole school, we decided upon the following:
Perseverance
Risk-taking
Independence
Determination
Enthusiasm
The children earn PRIDE points for demonstrating these attributes both in the classroom and around the school.
To achieve our vision of PRIDE we aim for all members of our school community to:
- Be confident and independent learners and thinkers
- Help each other and work as a team
- Develop healthy minds and bodies
- Be respectful of ourselves, of others and of the environment
- Always try our best and rise to challenges
- Feel happy and safe
- Take responsibility for our own actions
- To be self-disciplined and to have an understanding of right and wrong
- To be engaged and enthusiastic in our learning
We aim to provide:
- An inclusive and welcoming school
- A stimulating surrounding that is valued by all
- A broad, balanced, creative and engaging curriculum
- Opportunities for critical thinking, problem-solving and real-life experiences
Enrichment activities which bring value to children’s lives such as:
- Visitors into school
- Residential trips
- Young voices
- Sports cluster competitions and events
- Volunteer readers
