The Year 3 children made and fired catapults as part of their History topic on Castles. They have been learning about how castles were attacked and what defences castles had in place.
Our Year 3 children have enjoyed investigating Egyptian artefacts in their History lessons.
Our Year 5 children had a fantastic visit by PC Steve and PC Dave from West Yorkshire Dog Unit. The children asked fantastic questions linked to their ‘Crime and Punishment’ History topic. The children met the police dogs including ‘Chief’ the police puppy It was a fantastic experience. A huge thank you to PC Steve and PC Dave
As part of the History topic learning about Florence Nightingale, Year 2 children also learnt about local nurse Nellie Spindler who was born in Wakefield. Nellie helped soldiers in World War 1 and died on duty. The children discussed why Nellie was significant, however, she was not as well known as Florence. There was another special link to Nellie as she was the great, great, great aunty of Zac in Year 2. The children designed memorials for Nellie to celebrate her bravery.
Stone Age Day
Our Year 3 children had a fantastic day dressing up in Stone Age costumes and learning about this fascinating time period. During the day, they handled stone age artefacts, played stone age games and completed quizzes and activities. A brilliant day was had by all!
