House Captains
House Captains
At Horbury Primary Academy, we have four house groups – Ash, Beech, Elm and Willow. The houses are led by our Year 6 House Captains. The House Captains have an important role in school as they help to organise and run whole school events along with Mrs Yarnold and Mrs Cartwright. These events range from Children in Need and Christmas Jumper day to our Summer Sports Day where they will be the spokespeople for their houses. A key attribute of being an effective House Captain is ensuring a good team spirit at Horbury Primary Academy. Our House Captains are expected to be an example to younger children, to embody the values and ethos of the school and to contribute to the wider community.
The House Captains have a very important job of collecting up and totalling the PRIDE points on a Friday afternoon. Please see our Ethos and Values and Pride Points page for more detail.
Some of the key responsibilities of our House Captains include:
- To be a role model in terms of attitude, attendance, behaviour, manners and appearance to all members of the house
- To liaise with other House Captains and meet regularly with them and with the school leadership team and PE team
- To help supervise house activities that may include:
organising inter–house competitions
charity and fund raising events
advising and supporting younger pupils
carrying out any other duties as required
- To wear the house captain’s badge proudly at all times
Our House Captains for this academic year 2022/23 are:
Ash – Chloe P, Sam S & Ben T
Beech – Ruby A, Faye G & Emily G
Elm – Ruby C, Angel TS and Declan D
Willow – Aimee W, Elsie H & Amelia D
