What does PRIDE mean at HPA?
PRIDE Attributes
At Horbury Primary Academy, we have a system to encourage PRIDE in our children and the school as a whole. The staff and children voted for attributes that they felt should represent our school and as a whole school, we decided upon the following:
Perseverance
Risk-taking
Independence
Determination
Enthusiasm
The children can earn PRIDE points for demonstrating these attributes both in the classroom and around school. Teachers in the classrooms gather their children’s PRIDE points on IPADs using the Class Dojo app and these are added at the end of the week and the totals are displayed upon the classroom doors. Children can also earn PRIDE points from other members of staff when they demonstrate the above attributes around school. In these instances, children are provided with a yellow PRIDE point whereby they place their house group on the back and it is then posted into our good manners box. The House Captains have a very important job of collecting up and totalling the PRIDE points on a Monday morning. On a Monday, in assembly, the winning house group is announced and a leaf is placed upon their board in the school hall.
Our houses are known as Ash, Willow, Beech and Elm.
Selected children receive certificates in our weekly celebration assemblies for demonstrating our PRIDE attributes. This year, we have introduced a PRIDE award which is awarded every six weeks. The children selected are awarded a special certificate and a pin badge featuring their house colour. They also get to enjoy a special treat with the SLT.
