Wakefield Hospice Reindeer Run!

25/11/2020

Christmas is just around the corner and Covid-19 may well be causing havoc with our usual plans but at Horbury Primary we have decided to get into the festive spirit by taking part in the Wakefield Hospice Reindeer Run. This will be taking place on Friday 4th December and will take place over the course of the day on our school grounds.

The course will be a distance of 1km and each child will be given a set of reindeer antlers to wear during the activity and also to keep thereafter. There is also talk of a visit from Father Christmas! One of our staff members will be wearing a Father Christmas suit on the day. I wonder who that will be and if anyone will catch Father Christmas while on the run?

We are asking that all children donate a voluntary contribution of £2 to raise vital funds for Wakefield Hospice. It is incredibly hard time for everyone at the moment and more so on the lead up to Christmas so please donate what you can and all children will be given reindeer antlers regardless of the amount donated. You can make your donation either by bringing the correct money into school on the day or via the link below, which will take you to our schools fundraising page for Wakefield Hospice.

On the day of the event, please ensure that your child comes to school in their PE kit along with suitable footwear, a coat and a water bottle.

Please be reassured that you child does not have to run the entire 1km as they can walk, jog, dance or skip their way around. The main thing is that the children keep active, have fun while completing the course.

The Accord Multi Academy Trust is an educational charity established in September 2016 that is currently made up of four academies who were the founding members of the Trust. In September 2016 Horbury Academy and Ossett Academy & Sixth Form College came together, moving away from their stand-alone Trust status and were joined in December 2016 by Horbury Primary Academy and Middlestown Primary Academy.

The overarching vision for the Trust is to work in one ‘Accord – celebrating the differences of each academy through strong collaboration in order to inspire all members of our learning community to be the best that they can be.
