Safer Internet Day
13/02/2022
The children at HPA took part in Safer Internet Day.
In Nursery, the children listened to the the story ‘The Adventures of Smartie the Penguin.’ They also looked at internet symbols, their meanings and what they can do with them.
In Year 2, the children read the Digi-duck story and they gave him advice and spotted bad choices. The children were very knowledgeable about passwords, talking to grown ups and getting permission for purchases/game downloads. The children then answered some key questions linked to passwords, playing games and who to talk to about any worries. They put their answers on post it notes next to the questions and they were shared at the end of the session.

In Year 3, the children looked at different online scenarios and messages and voted together on whether they thought they were respectful and kind messages or not. They then talked about respect online and how they could change the messages to make them respectful.
In Year 5, the children talked about games and apps they use at home. The children looked at different online messages and voted on whether they were respectful or not. The children designed and recorded their own Gaming Guide to support children when on-line. The Gaming Guides provided practical advice for how to be respectful whilst using the internet.
