At Horbury Primary Academy, the safety and well-being of every child is our top priority. We are committed to creating a safe, nurturing environment where children can learn, grow, and flourish without fear or harm. We believe that all children have the right to be protected from abuse, neglect, and exploitation, and we take our responsibilities in safeguarding extremely seriously.

Our safeguarding practices are guided by the principle that it is everyone’s responsibility to ensure the safety of children. We have robust systems in place for identifying concerns and taking appropriate action. Our dedicated staff are fully trained in safeguarding procedures and are vigilant in recognising signs of abuse or distress. We work closely with external agencies, such as social services and the police, to ensure that the needs of the child are always met promptly and effectively.

We also ensure that our children are equipped with the knowledge and skills to keep themselves safe. Through a range of age-appropriate lessons and activities, we teach children about online safety, bullying, healthy relationships and how to recognise and report any concerns they may have. We encourage open communication and make sure that children know who they can turn to for support, both in school and beyond.

Parents and carers are key partners in safeguarding, and we encourage an open and ongoing dialogue between school and home. We welcome any concerns or queries you may have about your child’s safety and well-being, and we are committed to providing the support you need.

Childline

Childline is a counselling service for children and young people up to their 19th birthday in the United Kingdom provided by the NSPCC. Childline deals with any issue which causes distress or concern.
