Welcome to Horbury Primary Academy
- At Horbury Primary Academy, we firmly believe that the delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum is key to developing the child as a whole. We want our children to leave our school as confident individuals, capable of achieving great things. We have a diverse curriculum, which is interwoven with the key learning attributes embodied within our PRIDE words; perseverance, risk-taking, independence, determination and enthusiasm.
Reading is at the heart of everything we do. At Horbury Primary Academy, we want to cultivate a love of reading to last a lifetime. If children learn to read effectively at our school, they will read to learn for the rest of their lives. We believe that even the very best of curriculums always needs a key to unlock it and that key is READING.
We have created a curriculum which engages and motivates children to want to learn, to solve problems, and to think critically and creatively. We endeavour to provide themed approaches to learning, encourage frequent educational visits and visitors into school in order to bring subjects and learning to life.
Our ultimate aim is for every child to reach their potential and to create a lifelong love of learning. 'The Horbury Way' gives children not only new skills, knowledge and understanding, but also key learning attributes that will enable them to succeed as they begin their path in life. We have a culture of learning in which we have high expectations of all, enabling children to achieve through challenge and support.
"Pupils of all abilities, including those with special educational needs, make good progress through school. They take pride in their work and present it very well.

Year 1 had guide dog Hope in to help them talk about the sense of sight in Science and also ask questions that related to their History topic of Louie Braille. They asked Michelle if Braille was something she used. The children were able to stroke Hope if they wished. https://t.co/gQSuRBf6hw

School attendance matters. Did you know... - Being 15 minutes late every day means a loss of two weeks of education per year - Being absent 1 day per week is equivalent to losing two years of a child’s school life - Good attendance helps develop social skills and confidence https://t.co/j0Iuy4DuxT
